OBSAI and CPRI Interfaces

The Open Base Station Architecture Initiative (OBSAI) and the Common Public Radio Interface (CPRI) are two industry initiatives formed by major Wireless OEMs. These initiatives aim at developing industry standards and creating open markets for cellular base stations, which will allow manufacturers and component vendors to share a common protocol and more easily adapt their products from one customer to the other while reducing structure costs.

Lyrtech launched its OBSAI/CPRI effort in collaboration with Xilinx, as part of their “3G Wireless Base Station Initiative”.



      OBSAI/CPRI Virtex-4 Development Platform

The OBSAI/CPRI Virtex-4 Development Platform allows users to create flexible OBSAI RP3/RP3-01 and CPRI-compatible data sources and sinks, and bus translation bridges between the reference designs and Serial RapidIO/Gigabit Ethernet interfaces.

Such applications can benefit from the onboard, high-performance, TxREC/RxRE clock circuitry that makes possible designing high-speed serial data connections to the specifications of the OBSAI RP3/RP3-01 and CPRI standards.
